We are Narukami Taiko

A diverse group united by our love to hit big drums. We're passionate about playing taiko, and sharing the fun with others. Our name is 'Narukami' the Japanese God of thunder and lightning - we embody them in our playing. We always welcome new members, if you like our performance, and want to bang some drums, join us!

Taiko is a dynamic art form originating from ancient Japan. Taiko was used throughout history for communication, military action, theatrical accompaniment, religious ceremony, and festival and concert performances.

 

Open to beginners of all levels and capabilities, the Narukami Taiko team incorporates movement and rhythm to create powerful performances that command audiences. We work together to learn the principles of Taiko, performance techniques, modern taiko songs and traditional festival tunes.

We are an inclusive team open to anyone aged 13 and above, and run classes ranging from Beginner to Advanced on different nights of the week. No prior knowledge necessary to join our classes.
